hello again everyone. im back and this time i have something to share. but before for i jump the gun id like to explain a bit. i got the basic idea of this from various places but the biggest inspiration was this guy.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=233360&highlight=tech+bench

now i know there are many similarities but i assure you i changed as much as i can, and my sketch is just a rough idea of what im going to do. with out me blabbering any more here are some pictures of the thing.

http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/blaze15301/benchtable/bench2.png

the front side of it. i have 8 hardrive bays. each drive will be screwed to a 1/4 piece of mdf. then the mdf will be slotted into the 1.2 inch mdf walls. then i will probably place something in front of the so they wont slide out.

http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/blaze15301/benchtable/bench.png

the rads that are used are swiftech 360s i have 1 of them. most of the hardware on there will actually be used. if you guys would like more pictures, or have question/ suggestions im all ears. still working on a name and the color scheme.

well that is all for now.will start posting more when i get the mdf board.

*EDIT* when i actually start the build process will this be moved or will i have to start a new thread?

lol i haven't gotten to use it yet my work shop is still under construction lol. but im kind of worried about me not having enough pump power for both of those.

You're using a D5? It'll be more than enough. Incidentally, a DDC would be more than enough too. You've seen Spawn-Inc's setup, right? Giant external set of 3x 3x120 rads a few feet above his case? Even that would run perfectly fine on a single D5. The only reason he has 2 is...because he had 2. :P And my setup, with a DDC pushing through 4 blocks, a 1x120 rad, 3x120 rad, and 3x140 Monsta, I have power left over.

then i dont get it why the hell are all the people who are suppose to be master with this stuff say don't use TT stuff you ll need another pump for another 360 rad blah blah blah. im so glad i came to this forum, you guys are better and nicer here :)

don't use TT stuff

..well...I do say that a lot...though they have been doing better recently. ..I still can't bring myself to trust their PSUs though, one too many bad experiences. Though, if Western Digital could pull themselves around and become one of the leaders in HDD quality, maybe there's hope for Tt yet. :D

MINNI UPDATE

i decieded on a color scheme. green and black. i colored the case in. i also changed the size f the hardrive racks from 1/4 to 1/8 acrylic. green acrylic that size is very hard to find cheaply. i just hope the 1/8 will be strong enough to hold the hard rives in up like they will be. if any one here dose not think the 1.8 acrylic will not hold the hardrive please speak up. also does any one know where i can buy 1/4 neon green acrylic. and no spend a whole lot.

looks nice! on a side note, if you go to the file menu in sketchup you can export a 2D image, that'll make for cleaner pics  not a necessity but I thought I'd throw it out there :D

I like it. And if that's how you are planning on mounting the 1/8 acrylic and HDDs, you have nothing to worry about. In a configuration like that, it wouldn't matter if each HDD weighed 100lbs...it would hold it.

It looks more yellow than green, but I've never bought any florescent stuff, so maybe it's just the pic?

Mdust i think i love you man. you just saved me a huge amount of money. for the price of a 24X12 sheet from mnpctech i can get a 24X46 sheet from them. so once again thanks for saving me money and for testing. good luck with the move.

i used a circular saw to cut the slots for the hd mount. those were just rough drafts. next time i do them i will have router or something. the painting will come in way down the road. probably not till it starts getting warmer.

update

I have gotten a good bit done the past few days. I have remade the hdd cages, cut the acrylic, and I got some more mdf board and cut out the center pieces. I am not going to get the colored acrylic instead I am going to figure a way to wire leds to the clear acrylic to give it a green glow.

Things i have to do.

Paint

Nail it together

Cut the cable management holes

Sand the edges

Wire the LEDs.

http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/blaze15301/benchtable/GEDC0119.jpg

The comparison of the old hdd cut compared to the new one. The old on is on the left.

http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/blaze15301/benchtable/GEDC0125.jpg

Front view of the bottom together and half the center.

http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/blaze15301/benchtable/GEDC0126.jpg

As you can see the acrylic is longer then i intended. I am going to have someone at lowes cut out exact pieces.

http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/blaze15301/benchtable/GEDC0129.jpg

The front with the radiator hole cut.

http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/blaze15301/benchtable/GEDC0131.jpg

The back with the bottom radiator hole cut. the center piece will hold the pump and power supply.

That is all I have for you guys so far. I will hopefully have this completed by June.As always comments and suggestions are welcome.
