In the movie Back to the Future, Doc sets clock in the DeLorean to a day 25 years in the future. Today is that day.
So keep an eye out for Marty, Doc, and a Delorian with a Flux Capacitor.

I told my girlfriend and the only words that came out of her mouth were "Marty... has parkinson's so he's not going anywhere." Sheeeesh. I'm going to have to keep low for the next 5 days.

He didn't 25 years ago so when he comes to the future he won't either. His future (our present day) self does though.

Problem, the doc talks about going 25 years into the future, but doesn't make the trip since the terrorists shoot him. If he goes directly 25 years into the future, it will be Oct 26 2010 1:22AM.

Wait if this reality is really "the future" why doesn't my car fly? I mean it should have based on the movie.

This whole thing is rife on the web - there are comments to this effect pretty much everywhere - googling it comes up with shedloads of results but....
I think I'm going to call BS on this one lol....
There is every possibility that the version of BTTF I have is in some way edited - it isn't unusual for different countries to get slightly different versions of movies - equally, the cinema/dvd/video/tv versions will also have some differences but....
The only times where a trip to the future is mentioned are about 1h:41m into the movie when the Doc says "About 30 years, it's a nice round number" in response to Marty's "So how far ahead are you going?" - the clocks are never visible, and no time is actually entered on-screen. The second time is right at the very end of the movie when Doc comes back for Marty and Jennifer so they can sort out whatever problem is awaiting thier kids. Again, no specific date is mentioned, nor are the clocks shown.....
If you skip ahead to Part II, at about 4m:30s into the movie, you DO see the clocks of the arrival time of Doc, Marty and Jennifer, but they sure don't say todays date....

Please please correct me if I'm wrong or if there's a version of the movie where it does happen, but I'm thinking this is one of those rumours that has been repeated so often it's now considered "true" just because it has proliferated so much....
On another note, if I AM right, all you nay-sayers have to take a step back. There are still 5 years to go before we get the flying cars and barcode licence plates :p
The movie is 25 years old now - I'm guessing someone, somewhere managed to mis-combine the two facts and it went viral without anyone noticing lol

The first was released July 3, 1985 so we're just past it's 25th anniversary but you may be right. I'll have to sit down through the trilogy and see if I can spot July 6th.

I'm not sure if it was today's date or not, but now I want to watch it.

Great Scott! This reminds me, I should pick up where I left off with the flux capacitor build.
Sreenshots say 2015. Pretty sure that's what my copy of the movie says as well. So we gotta wait a bit over 5 more years until we....what, throw a party?

So we have to wait until October 21, 2015? That's a long time to plan a party.

hmmm does that mean we need to build a delorean and drive it to Drum Thumpers place so we all have the same car and we just might be able to time travel. well I'm in for the idea we just need to find a way to use biodegradable items as a fuel. and we need to make it fly as well. anyone else in on this idea.:P

Theatre is accepted as an international spelling. It's also the typical spelling in Canada.
