Well I was randomly browsing the local craigslist listing and ran across a listing for a free pocket bike. Call the guy up and it apparently is electric powered and likely has dead batteries. So I figured it's free and I have time for projects this summer. Rather than invest in another project car I grabbed this. Might only need batteries but I might mess around with painting it too. Best I can tell it is a cheap Chinese bike.

I probably won't do anything with this for another two weeks, I'm leaving for vacation next weekend. When I get back though I plan to tear it down and test the batteries.

A bit of searching I believer I have found the model of the bike (it is not visibly marked). So I can confirm that it is made by some random chinese comapany (http://www.oursbiz.com/Company/23936/New_250w_Electric_Pocket_Bike_Sy_Ep250.aspx).

Specs according to that site:
Top speed = 20kph (~12mph)
Range = 18-20km (~11-12mi)
250w motor
24v 10amp battery (I think it's actually two 12v batteries)
20kg (~45lbs)
8.5in diameter wheels

So basically, it's pathetic, even for a pocketbike. Whatever it's free and I wasn't planning on racing it or anything.

Yup. Next step is to comb through craigslist looking for some sort of free small gas-powered...thing. Chainsaw, weed-whacker, whatever. Then, combine the two and have some fun. :D
