ok simple question has anyone tired/is it possible to take your standard stock black painted case and polish it? and would it give it a real shine instead of the sort of matt black?
anyway it may be a bit noob but ive never tried it before and im curious as to how it would look. anyway cheers SaWBLaDe.

The biggest thing about shine is smooth. If it has even the slightest texture to it, you will be hard pressed to get a really eye-popping shine. So it really is going to depend on the case. Post some pics of it and maybe we can give you a few ideas.

smooth is exactly right. black is the worst for this kind of thing too.
a lot of times with anything that is painted black, you will see a texture not unlike the random wrinkles on your fore arm (if you can see them through the hair). they may be faint, or distinct. the wrinkles may be so close together that they are barely visible, or they may be far apart and very noticable. sometimes you even get paint spattering where you can see little tiny lumps all over the place. in any case, it will most likely require some sanding to smooth out. beyond that, if you know how to polish, it shouldnt be too hard.
if you tried to polish a textured black surface... well that would be interesting. i would think it would end up looking like slimy reptile skin in the worst cases. most of the time its only to the extent that a mirror finish is not possible, and reflections just look blurred.
anyways, ya post a pic or two, and a close up under good light if possible. that way we can have a good look and give you our verdict.
