Hello everyone!
I'm wondering about how you do when you get sponsored with stuff for mods. Do you just give them a call asking for some freebies?

What I would do is create a portfolio of your past builds. After that, make a 3D rendering of your build plans and submit both in an e-mail to whoever you're trying to get sponsored by. I'd start with small sponsors so you can add your current sponsors to the e-mails to the bigger sponsors to show that other companies are in your project. It may help make you look more legit.
