So there seems to have been a lot of posts about changing fortunes recently, and I thought I might as well jump on the bandwagon.

I'm moving from the 2nd to 3rd year of my batchelor's degree (CompSci) and I'm living off my student loan and whatever website commissions I get, and the occassional weekend on a chicken farm. My partner is horribly underpaid, and gets very few hours besides, and we've been living on a shoestring. Now, the loan has dried up, my partner doesn't have a contract over the summer, will barely even be able to claim benefits because I'm a student, was really worried that I simply wouldn't be able to pay the bills...

On top of that, I had been waiting for a long time for my university results and I was really worried I hadn't done well.

To cut a long story short, within 6 days I had found, applied for and will know by the end of tomorrow if I'll have two five-week paid placements as a systems developer over the summer. The pay isn't great but it'll do more than tide us over. I've got work at the chicken farm over the weekend (it's not great, but it's a cash boost), and I got my results in, to find out I had the 4th highest mark in the year!

So, I'll either be posting here tomorrow going DAMN, or I'll not be here because I'll be a the pub celebrating!

Hope you get the job. TBCS can vouch for you being "popular and handy to have around" so you've got to be able to do some good as a system developer :D

If you DO get it make sure to bring a laptop to the pub so we can join in though ^^

So I shouldn't tell them about my negative reps?

Here's hoping we don't hear from you then.

No need, it's a composite system. If you took out your neg reps you'd probably have a long string of green bars. :)

What negative reps? We don't see any...and if we can't then they can't. Mums the word...;)

Good luck landing that job.

Send a PM to one of the admins, they can work all sorts of magic on the rep. I remember one period of hijinks where a member (can't remember who though) had 10 red bars.

Congratulations!
OK, now that you're in, how do you plan on crashing their systems?

Aargh I just plan on getting to grips with the development stuff, I don't know half the technologies!

Congrats on the job! AS for the technologies.. you will have them figured out in no time, once you get into the thick of it.
