Really? Are people so lazy that it's too hard to match the + and -?

World's most annoying blogger.
It's a pretty nifty idea actually.
It's an interesting idea, but I would hate to have to wire anything with more than 2-3 batteries with them. They would have to be wired up with 2^n possible configurations, and trying to actually do that would be horrific with any more than 2-3 batteries. Heck, even with just 2 batteries it would be messy. It seems like they're taking a software input sanitation attitude towards physical batteries, which is interesting, but as anyone who has done it knows, incredibly frustrating to implement.
Also, I gotta throw this out there...."instaload"? Really Microsoft? Did you really think that nobody would think of anything other than battery contacts when they saw that? -_^

I read "instaload" and a comment on batteries and wondered "Battery powered RAM disk" which would take an image of the OS when installed so it could boot effectively immediately - last thing I was thinking was anything like terminal design lol

The video is dreadful to watch but the units are pre-wired and don't have any combination of wiring neccessary, it's just a contact technology

...Doesn't that exist already?
Bah! I suppose I'll actually watch it. :P
EDIT:
Oooooh, he didn't actually say anything about it (at least not the in the first 2 minutes I actually watched), but I just realized, they probably have it pre-wired in each unit. I was thinking it would have two hookups on each end, but they probably just have two cross-over lines inside the unit that make the + and - always come out the same contacts.

I think it's a good idea for flashlights or similar items where you can't see.
