Yep :D

My brother-in-law wants to build a new system and called me the other day to make it happen. He already paypal'ed me $50 just for my time to look up some different options for him. We're discussing options of a C2Q or stepping up to an i5 or i7, but it all depends on his budget (read: what the wife lets him spend). He's currently running a decent C2D setup, but want to make the move to a C2Q at the very least, and it be crossfire ready.

As far as customization he's not really sure. He may just leave whatever lighting comes with said components, or have me do something custom (again depending on budget). He seems pretty hooked on the Tempest EVO after I showed him mine (well my build anyways), and may even get an arduino and I may have anotehr set of parts waterjet cut and build him the same setup I've got, but we'll see.

It's still a few months out from the actual hardware being ordered, but there's still a lot of details and hardware configurations to work out between now and then.

Now the only hurdle being I live in MA and he's in MO. He was thinking of ordering everything then flying me out there to build it with/for him. Optionally, he could buy the stuff and have it shipped to me, I build it and super pack it and ship it to him. The first option is the best in terms of the welfare of the computer system lol, but the second is better in terms of $$. It'd be cheaper to send the computer fedex or ups insured than to fly me (and probably the wife lol) to MO and back.

But that's all to worry about later on.

Great news! I agree, especially got possibly fragile parts like your louvers, that you flying out and building it would be the best for the parts. IDK what your family does on holidays, maybe combine it with that if you get together?

that might be a possibility, but nearly the entire family is here, so if anything he'd end up coming here with his wife, and it'd either be in the hands of UPS, FedEx or worse yet.... airport baggage handlers

Ah, ok. IDK then. One thing you could do is ship anything really fragile separately.

You could always make it a mini vacation too... Fly out there, wives go shopping, guys play in the man cave. :D

yea I think that's what's going to end up working out the best. If he doesnt end up going with my louvers, then I can use the box the case comes in, and just stuff the inside with bubblewrap to bits and pieces don't get shaken loose or whatever in transit.

that's what we're hoping, but like I said, it all depends on what we end up spending on hardware and other goodies that will dictate how much is left for airfare

My brother has successfully shipped fully built computers in the original box that came with the case. Just make sure everything is tightly secured inside and the PSU cables dont have a lot of movement room.

Agreed. Maybe take some extra precaution by securing cables with twist ties or something. Get yourself some anti-static blow-up bags and pack the hell out of the inside and ship in the PC in the original tower box... maybe get another box to go around it and fill the space with styrofoam. I don't think it'd be a problem at all.

Congratulations on getting the paying build. If you get to go out there to build it, that would probably be the best. If not, serious amounts of bubble wrap will come in handy. If you have cats, trust me, packing peanuts are nothing but a disaster.
