I am working on my Novint entry and need to wire the replacement buttons but am not 100% sure of the process.

The switch I am extending and the switch I am adding are both like this...

but the question I have is do I have to solder to both contacts on the pcb or just a single contact?

I plan to attach a wire to the switch on the pcb then to the second switch then back to the other side of the switch, so either switch could be pressed and it work.

To further clarify what needs to be done, there are four soldered contacts on the pcb for each switch.

To add another switch, do i need to solder a wire on two of the four contacts on the pcb, then the second switch, and then back to the two remaining points on the pcb?

Or do I only need to solder to one of the four for both ends?

Thanks in advance.

you should just need to hook it to 2 of the 4 contacts. use a multimeter and check continuity with the button depressed to find out which ones. Those micro switches usually have 2 inputs and 2 ooutputs

I agree. the 2 legs on each side closest to each other are connected. So you can solder to just 1 leg on each side.

Awesome, that's what I thought but the pcb had all four soldered and traced so it was worth checking.

Check and make sure that the switches on each side are actually electrically connected. I haven't checked that yet on mine and it's over 2,000 miles away right now, otherwise I'd check myself. :P
