I was digging through my toolbox today, and I found a pair of blue LED car sidelights. Each one had four superbright blue LEDs in it and I suddenly thought they could be really useful for modders. Especially as they are designed to run directly off a 12V supply.

So, if you're looking for cheap lights, your local car accessory shop might be a good place to start.

Also try holiday lights.
I read on another board about a guy who bought a bunch of rope lights for christmas. Turns out they were made of bright blue or white LEDs (don't remember which). So after hacking them out of their 'sockets' he had a buch real cheap. They put these things on the store shelves for Holloween around here so I'll have to wait a while.

Look in bargain centers, they usually have what chain stores don't. Or you can just dig through your family's old stuff and hope for the best :)
