You can check it out here. There's a ready made case with a PSU for $80. It seems like a lot to me, but the design is pretty good.

That's interesting. I'd never buy one though. I wonder if they realize that paper decomposes...it would be much more beneficial to recycle plastic and aluminum to keep that stuff out of landfills. :glasses:

Wow, I recall seeing a concept for this over a year ago. Didn't actually expect to see it come out.

I'm disappointed it is microATX. If it were full ATX I'd buy one, stick my gaming computer in it and take it to LAN parties.

Nothing that goes in a landfill decomposes, not even paper and organics.

I remember seeing this in that design contest. The full rigs are way overpriced, but they'll probably sell some.

I like how it says there's an option without the power supply, but the only one listed is with the power supply. If you add the "Options" one to your cart it just adds the power supply anyway.

Curious how much the case is without the psu, not that I'd buy it.

Methane from decomposing material in landfills is used to run generators. If it's not running generators it's bottled and sold to release the pressure.

I'd consider getting one without a PSU, but $80 for that case with the PSU seems like a lot. Also, I feel like the high price has to be insurance. Something is going to go wrong with these things. I'd like a product like this if a percentage of the sale went to a charity.

I have a feeling that you can only buy the barebones case with a PSU is because it won't actually fit a normal sized PSU. I'm betting the interior of that is a cramped SFF case.

Well, small PSUs are easy to find on newegg.

I'm thinking a good DIY box like this would be fun.

I don't know about anyone else, but imo it's a lot more environmentally responsible to reuse stuff, not recycle it. For example, the case that my backup system is in is probably about 10-15 years old! Why would I want to buy a case that will fall apart in a few years when I can have a really nice case that, granted, may be less environmentally friendly to create, but will last many times as long?

In my opinion this is just another company jumping on the Green gravy train. Using the whole "sustainable" buzzword to sell a way overpriced product. If you read through their documentation... they are NOT using recycled cardboard, its new cardboard that has been die cut to their specifications. So it ain't saving any trees. They also talk about it being recyclable, well you know most cases are made out of metal.. which hmmm is RECYCLABLE. There is nothing wrong with doing your part to maintain the environment, I am just so tired of companies playing the "Green" card and duping people into overpaying for a product so they can "feel better" about themselves, when in reality they really aren't making much of an impact at all.

That's what bugs me most about this. You are making a statement, but the statement is not backed up with any action. That's why I expected a percentage of each sale to go to charity or to plant ten trees or buy an underprivileged person a computer or something worthwhile.

This idea really bothers me. It isn't a "green" case as it is using new cardboard. If someone really wanted to do this in a green manner use card board from the recycling bundles found at Every retailer in the country. Or better yet there is a log on here that put a system in a cardboard box. Besides how hard is it to cut ccard board? What household doesn't at least have a scissors or knife. This kind of phony environmental stuff pisses me off almost as bad as companies being able to buy carbon credits instead of having to just clean up emmissions. End rant now...

aw heck guys. Why do we even *need* cases at all? (the pic below is my fiancee's computer...and ok yeah I am gonna build her a case - real life has intervened for the moment - but the compy works just fine sans case)

I immediately noticed this, and was angered. Hey, they got it right once... out of three times. Does that count for anything, or is that actually worse?

Athena Power (http://culturepilotplus.com/clients/recompute/!/store-models.php)? Who are they, and why are the majority of their PSUs rather low-priced? Further, why aren't their UL numbers, at least the first two I searched, registered? I have low expectations for this unit, and I'd hate to see the flame-retardant qualities of the cardboard tested.

Well, we don't, really - I've run my main computer simply screwed to a couple of boards before, and of course we've all tested systems on a table.

I've bought two cases in my life, but owned far more computers. I reuse as much as I can, and all else is dealt with in the most environmentally-friendly manner possible.

Only if it set the cardboard box on fire, cuz anything less just wouldn't be fun. :D
