Well it seems to be going around. I've had to spend the last 2 weeks looking for a new job. I was given a choice from my employer (Wendy's) to either take demotion to crew at $8.00 an hour or quit. I almost felt that I should have taken the demotion because the job market is not that secure here in middle of nowhere NE but I also felt like they were insulting me a little. Now here's the interesting part. I went ahead and applied at McDonald's here in town for a manger position and FAILED the assessment test. We're not talking just the basic can you be a manager test but the whole thing. They shouldn't even call me for an interview for crew failed here. I am still boggled by the whole thing because I have worked management in fast food for about 10 years.....

Well onto happier notes. I've been interviewing with Centurylink for a Data Tech position with them and I'm hopeful in getting the position. Best of all its work from home, no commute:banana::D!! I moved my desk and computer down to the basement so hopefully that isn't a wasted effort. I had to go in for drug testing today and had to fill out some paperwork for security checks because they couldn't verify that I worked at Wendy's of Gering....I've been there for 3 years go fig. I do hope I get this, I'm trying to not get my hopes up to high but I figure places like Centurylink wouldn't pay for drug testing and stuff if they weren't seriously considering you for a position right? The position pays $11.00 an hour ($1.00 more then I made at Wendy's) and they said they are having huge call volumes right now so when I mentioned overtime they were like yeah we've been giving that out like crazy lately. Full benefits to start and discounts for Centurylink services. So I'm keeping those fingers crossed.

I've got applications still out there and if worse comes to worse McDonald's said I could go there at $8.50 an hour and work my way up again:facepalm:. Well I felt like I needed to get a little steam blown off and vent. Wish me luck and I wish anybody else out there looking luck too.

I've been looking pretty hard for 2 weeks now, with no luck. It's aggrevating because the last time I was unemployed (2 months ago) I had 8 interviews in my 1st week, this time I've only had one. I guess I've figured out those groups who scam you by only paying you commission so that cuts out a couple of interviews.

I'm so mad that even with 2 Associates Degrees I have to work in retail. Especially when I visit the PC repair place and they have complete idiots working for them. I called this one place looking for a sound card and the guy starts reading specs for a Video Card! He was baffled when I said "No, I need a sound card"

Good luck with the CenturyLink thing Bopher, it sounds pretty set..at least, everywhere I've worked, by the time they have you getting drug tests you're basically hired (assuming you don't fail said drug tests).

My current job took two weeks after getting and submitting a criminal record check. A pain, but worth it. :)

Thanks everyone. Whats even better is that Wendy's did all this after my 5 year mark, so their policy is to pay out vacation time so I get a check for 3 weeks of vacation time.

I think I'm in the same thought as everyone else where they wouldn't be spending the $$ on drug testing unless they were thinking about hiring me.

So everything finally came back in today I guess cause I got a call at 8am and they offered me the position with Centurylink. The HR department is in Florida I guess so they call pretty early. Benefits sound great and I get to work from home! woohoo! It feels good to know I have a job again, I've been stressing since I left Wendy's about getting a new one. I had an interview with Home Depot on Monday I gotta cancel now so I don't waste anybody's time there. I don't start training until September 13th so I've got another 2 weeks that I can enjoy work free until that starts. Makes me feel bad though cause now my wife has to change her schedule at Walmart so she can watch our daughter while I'm downstairs working.

Thanks. Whats even cooler I think is that on the 13th, I get paid for 8 hours work but only have to be in class for 4. They use the other 4 hours for the whole getting the paperwork done days before.
