Nmap.org has put together an image (http://nmap.org/favicon/) of the favicons of the top 300,000 websites on the internet based on Alexa.com world rankings. We are in the top 150,000 so we are on this. Can you find us without cheating and using the lookup on the site?

An interesting visualization over at Nmap.org (http://nmap.org/favicon/) shows the favicons of the 300,000 biggest websites on the Internet (Internet) (according to Alexa), with the size of the favicons corresponding to sites with the most traffic.

The data has been gathered through a “large-scale scan of the top million web sites,” performed in “early 2010″ using the Nmap Security Scanner, a powerful network scanning tool used by many online security professionals.

The smallest icons, explain the folks from Nmap, correspond to sites with approximately 0.0001% reach, and re scaled to 16×16 pixels. The largest icon belongs to Google (Google), and it’s 11,936 x 11,936 pixels large; for comparison, Mashable’s (Mashable) favicon (located below and to the left of Facebook (Facebook)) is 640 × 640 pixels large. Of course, to explain Google’s icon in its full size, you need to check out the zoom-enabled, interactive version (http://nmap.org/favicon/).

The visualization is also available as a humongous poster, available here

Oh hell no lol - can't look it up either - the image isn['t loading on my laptop. I got co-ordinates but without any scale, they don't help a lot :p

Here's the high-res source, for anyone still looking. I haven't looked yet, but thought I'd throw this up here.

Ok, I cheated too...you have to use their interactive zooming map to get the resolution needed to even see it. :(

That's not cheating, that's the only possible way to even see anything.

You can't read text on a 16x16px logo? When was the last time you saw an optometrist?

Well, even with the high-res 'poster' image that I linked, which is the highest res image they have other than the interactive one, the TBCS logo and those around it are just kinda a greyish blur.

I'm not at all, each one is the size I think it should be.
