I read the sixth and seventh books this summer. I'm looking forward to this for sure.
I actually haven't been paying attention to the movies, I what's going to happen, and it already ended (for me), so I don't need anything keeping me company while waiting for the next book. ...I should really catch up on them though.

The movies are really good in some ways and not as good in others. The books are great because Rowling makes the characters and their interactions so real. The dialogue is so much funnier in writing than in the movies, and the internal issues the characters face are easier to portray. All that said, I don't like Rowling's descriptive style. Her narrative is fine, characterization great, but descriptions of places and things is just so dumbed down in comparison. I almost think the books would be better with a lot less of it, but the genre (fantasy) requires quite a bit since the places, things, and events are so often completely unreal.

I'm personally not too much of a fan of the movies- there were a few good ones, but a lot of them were butchered in my opinion. I love the books on the other hand (look at my user title. In case you don't know, it is the Hogwarts motto)

I held off reading any of the books until after the third movie. After that I couldn't not read them. I read the five that were out at the time. Then when the sixth one came out it couldn't hold my interest. After the sixth movie though I knew I had to read the sixth and seventh books so I finally did this summer. They don't really take any time to read. They are super easy. But it's worth it. You'll fall in love with the characters so much more.

I keep rereading them from time to time. And I find that Harry is annoying me more and more. At first I thought he was brave blah, blah but now I just think he's a retard who lack the capacity of thinking more then 30 seconds ahead. Luckily for him he's not a real person though so general logic doesn't apply to him.

I find that happens a lot with books I loved when I was the age of the characters (in this case, middle/high school). For example, I used to love the Hardy Boys books, but after a while I started noticing that they were just immature and couldn't think more than a short time ahead except when it was convenient. ..and it didn't help that I started figuring out the mystery less than half way through the book. :P

I like the Harry Potter series. Everybody needs an escape from reality from time to time.
