The problem I see is not that you are downloading too much...but that you are uploading too little. Seriously, that's a massively skewed ratio. :D

we actually got a letter from our provider (a ****ty one, rogers) and they told us to stop doing that lol.

my dad left one running for a few weeks which had finished. so he was only uploading, which is why i think they sent it. they don't care about downloading, just uploading.

i don't think Shaw cares what we do :) and the only reason why it's so high is that theses are Private T's not public

Heheh, be glad you have an ISP that's cool with your traffic. My adventures with Comcast...didn't quite end so well.

...I finally cleared everything out with them yesterday after they kept billing me for 4 months for the modem that I mailed back to them in May...

Sorry, I forgot, they're Xfinity now! ...is it just me or does that sound more like a low-budget early-90's porn studio than a telecom company? :P

I would have guessed that they were a type of shoe.

I thought I downloaded too often. I've had an account and demonoid for years and I'm only up to 203dl and 250ul. I don't trust demonoid anymore though...

ugh..CONcast, had them once for cable, never again, I have perfectly happy with my small town cable/phone/internet provider with unlimited internet.

A couple of years ago I got kicked off by my isp for downloading too much on my unlimited package. I hit about 90 gig one month. Got a letter.saying I had to substantially reduce usage or else. Next month I downloaded about 50 gig but apparently a little over half doesn't count as a substantial reduction cos they still kicked me off. later found out that the unlimited limit was actually 30 gig.

 Good grief! I do that much in just normal use! (ie, browsing, updates, streaming, etc)

This is why, despite the worst customer service in the world (at least from what I've experienced in 16+ hours on the phone), I go with Verizon. They are one of the few that has held out and not instituted bandwidth caps.

I've had really hit and miss customer service with Verizon. I will say this though, I have yet to see an incompetent field tech. *glares at Comcast*

Verizon's tech department is pretty awesome. If you can get a level 3 on the phone it's pretty sweet, and the level 1 and 2 people are at least competent enough to get the job done. It's everyone else (billing, sales) that's retarded.

love how they call it unlimited but impose a cap. you should sue them for it saying it was false advertisement and you were paying for unlimited and thus expected unlimited

IDK about his ISP, but I know when a friend of mine ran into Verizon's 5GB/mo cap on their wireless internet service it turned out they did actually spell it out...deep in some contract agreement...fortunately he found out about the cap the first day he was trying out the service..and then promptly proceeded to overrun the cap that same day.

I haven't noticed a cap with my Time Warner service. Their cable sucks, and they keep increasing the cost of the cable portion of the bill. But the roadrunner internet is fairly decent as far as isp goes. Granted I don't keep track of how much I DL/UL, though I'm fairly confident it's significantly higher than the average household, and never dealt with their customer or tech support.
