I built this over the summer, and figured I should post pictures of it.

The tubes are bamboo and the joints are carbon fiber. All the other components are standard bike parts. The ride quality is pretty incredible. The combination of the bamboo frame and carbon fiber fork absorb bumps and vibrations unbelievably well- it's practically like riding on glass, but the frame is still plenty stiff and moderately light.

I have a **** ton more pictures and a writeup of the process here if anyone's interested:

Agreed, on both counts. I've seen these done before elsewhere online, but that doesn't make it any less awesome. :D Well done.

Have some rep from me as well.

I've wanted to do that project for a while, but I have too many projects. It will be a few years I think. Hopefully I do it before I leave college though.

Thanks for the comments!

This actually was not an especially difficult project, but it was extremely time consuming. I hope to do another one pretty soon, but probably won't finish it until next summer. Be sure to post pictures if you do build one!

Definitely post the writeup. Not only does it function great, but it looks great doing it! That's seriously awesome. I've been looking into making a copy of my current bike frame out of a lighter material. Not sure if I'll proceed with that project though.

I posted a link to the writeup in the OP. There are way more photo's there that are necessary to explain the process, and it would take a really long time to link to all of them in forum posts.

I'll admit I didn't notice the link until you mentioned it either.. :whistler: Great job though, I like the idea of doing it piece-by-piece instead of needing a jig. Makes the whole process a lot simpler. Good idea for the carbon filler too.
