I happened to stumble across this on Engadget (apparently Apple had a new product refresh or something recently? who knew? :P ), and it really threw me for a loop. Engadget did a good review of it, so I'm not gonna go too much into it, but basically now it's a 1.54" 240x240 screen with 3 buttons around the edges. ..it looks...odd. I feel like it would be incredibly awkward to hold and use, but oddly, I think with a little modification and added features it could make a cool watch.

thoughts?

Someone needs to mod a watchband to it. I wouldn't buy it though... too small for a touch screen.

seems like apple is trying to create 2 separate iPod worlds. the media powerhouse, (Touch and the forgotten classic) and the workout enthusiast iPod (shuffle and Shuffle+ (aka nano). Not a big fan, as the nano was generally their hook into new customers. now it looks like they just tried to make a shuffle with a screen... =(

Yeah, I rather got that feeling too...at least aesthetically.

I think it would make a great workout device if combined with decent wireless earbuds (do those exist?). A watch mod would make sense, but you would always have the same color watch so you would need to go with a neutral color.

I wouldn't want to mount this on a wristband without somehow protecting that little LCD from being smashed. Maybe waterproofing, too. I'm rough on my watches.

A wristband seems so obvious (especially with that little clock display) that Apple or somebody else will probably somehow sell it as an optional kit. I suppose you'd need headphones wired up your arm or connected through BT. But what are you thinking about when you say "with a little modification and added features", x88x?
