Ever since I saw the idea over on vwvortex I have been trying to find them anywhere and everywhere. It is similar to an airbag suspension install but instead you have four independent jacks that can be pumped up by air to make pretty much everything easier. Need to change your oil hit this button, need to change a tire hit the same button, need to work on anything you guessed it hit that same button. I know there are some gear heads in here that have to at least have a faint idea of what I am talking about and hopefully somebody will know where to source it.

As cool as the idea is, I can imagine it would add a fair amount of weight to a car....

True, but add something like that to a Heavy Duty 1 ton truck....

They can't be too heavy as the design is huge with nismo and honda race scene. Something like this (http://www.hrpworld.com/index.cfm?tpc=Genesis_Technologies_Air_Jack_System _Kit&form_prod_id=15,10_242&action=product)

I could see this application being really cool. In general though, I imagine it would depend if the weight and space the system uses are worth the additional functionality to you. Another system to think about would be to use hydraulic or magnetic shocks for this instead. The hydraulic would probably be heavier, but would probably be quicker, quieter, and stronger. The magnetic would have its own issues (power draw, primarily), and would be much more expensive, but would by much quicker and absolutely silent.

I see it this way I can completely contain a 12 volt air system under the false floor in my trunk as well as the other goodies that I am already in the planning stages of mounting. Compressed air isn't flammable or nearly as messy as hydraulic if a leak develops. I just know there has to be a cheaper street grade version of the racing kit I listed its just nearly impossible to find. Each jack can support a metric ton or my mother in law whichever I choose, and for my tiny little german car that will do.

I think I may have found a MUCH cheaper but less elegant solution.... You can get electric car jacks which run off of a standard 12v supply. Like These (http://www.amazon.com/Buffalo-Tools-EJ212-Automatic-Electric/dp/B0027Z6F3W) If you can find a way to mount them (upside down I imagine) somewhere, you could, in theory, get the whole car lifted 14 inches off of the ground for less than $200.... I think that qualifies as less costly than the $3k for that other kit....

I can't imagine trying to find somewhere on my car to try and mount scissor jacks that would be out of the way, especially in four places.

I don't think i would trust something with my life that only works off of pneumatics, hydraulics or especially electrical.
Mechanical lift only here please, Because i've seen a hilarious amount of hydraulic lines simply split on fork lifts and if it wasn't for the mechanical lockers that fork would of slammed its load to the ground.

^ Agreed! Maybe for changing a tire.. but I don't know if I would trust getting under it, unless there were jack stands involved.

Airjacks come with sleeves to put over the extended cylinder so if the air pressure goes you don't get squished.http://www.hrpworld.com/client_images/ecommerce/client_39/products/1673_1.jpg
