I'll gladly donate a grab bag of switches and other odds and ends that I originally got from Paul Capello. One for each winning entry. If I happen to win, I'll have Curtis do a drawing.

Also, is this wide open or regular members only?

09-23-2010, 11:22 AM
Its open to all but I am restricting it to Registered members only and they need to have at least 10 post.

09-23-2010, 03:55 PM
Correction- my donated cpu is socket 775- the model version is 925.

Here's the info:

A night photo isn't going to do mine justice. I need to post a vid instead. Is that going to be acceptable?

10-23-2010, 10:02 PM
Yes videos are allowed. Did you steal my idea?

10-23-2010, 11:15 PM
Here's my entry for this year. It is not even close to as creepy as last year's was, but the actual carving is much better.

Hope this isn't too many pictures. It is really hard to capture all the angles of this properly with just one or two.

I have no idea. But I wouldn't be surprised if we're thinking along the same lines.

Ok So I had planned on entering a Darth Vader Bust with the Death Star in the Background (all on one pumpkin) but ruined it on Vader's mask. After 2 hours invested in it, I did not feel like starting over. So I will simply enter my other carving.

I give you Yoda!

So if you are wondering how I gave him the green glow keep reading.

http://thebestcasescenario.com/oneslowz28/personal/pumpkin_carving_2010/Yoda_bright.jpgJust proof that it is mine. Anyone who has seen my reviews or other pics will recognize my workbench.

http://thebestcasescenario.com/oneslowz28/personal/pumpkin_carving_2010/LED_Rainbow.jpgSo I utilized the LED rainbow kit I received a few months back from PCboard.ca It is a LED driver board that is based off of a PIC microconroller and pre loaded with plenty of lighting effects. The LED strips are also from PCBoard.ca and each contain 2 RGB 1watt LEDS for a total of 6 Watts on the whole string.

http://thebestcasescenario.com/oneslowz28/personal/pumpkin_carving_2010/LEDS.jpg Here you can see how I have them in the pumpkin. Bent paper clips secure the LED Strips to the pumpkin.

http://thebestcasescenario.com/oneslowz28/personal/pumpkin_carving_2010/ledslit.jpg And finally a shot from the top with the LEDS lit up.

I forgot to take a photo with my name on a piece of paper but I think my workbench in the background is enough to confirm its mine.

I have gotten a few request that we extend the contest by 1 day so please submit all entries by Midnight tomorrow CST.

10-28-2010, 12:51 PM
nice usage of that LED kit  love the green, its a nice effect

10-28-2010, 10:22 PM
AAH! mine's done, but photobucket is being stupid!
edit- my camera is having trouble, so I probably won't be able to upload the pics until tomorrow, if at all

My entry for 2010. :hurt:

I'm no good at carving pumpkins. The smell of the pulp for whatever reason is nauseating to me, but I stuck it out to show my support for the best PC Modding forum on the web! If I had more confidence I was going to do the logo's swirl, but I was afraid I would cut too close and the whole thing would break off, lol.

10-29-2010, 03:50 PM
nice! :D

10-29-2010, 05:26 PM
I HAD THAT IDEA!! lol but I didnt think I could pull it off. GUess I still have a few days...

10-29-2010, 07:02 PM

here's with the light
slightly better shot:
and finally, you can see what the heat has done to the pumpkin since last night
sorry I can't embed the photos. for some reason, they won't show up

Pumpkin does smell kinda weird. Plus, the cat kept trying to get in and investigate. (Wish I'd gotten pics of that).

Oh dear. Good thing I brought my A game.

I'll be appending this soon with a video. Yes, a video.

Edit: Yes, as promised, the video!

Now that this is done uploading, I'm gonna go get some more action shots. This'll burn for about another 30 minutes or so.

Edit 2: More glamour shots:

I do believe the deadline has passed. Good luck everyone!

10-30-2010, 01:24 AM
Yes as of this post the contest is now closed. I will post a poll in the chatter box in the morning.

11-08-2010, 04:12 AM
Ok Sorry for taking so long to tally this up.

First Place Goes to Drum Thumper and he wins a Prolimatech Megahelms Rev A
Second Place goes to Oneslowz28, he wins a Lamptron Fan controller
Third Place goes to Kayin/Luthien and they win a Socket 775 Pentium D820
Fourth Place goes to Nighttrain who wins a Pentium D925
Honorable Mentions go to : Techno Chicken, Farlo, and Storm Rider who I beleive will be getting some modding supplies from DrumThumper.

I want to thank everyone who entered. Next year we are going to tweak the rules a bit and allow any number of pumpkins to be used in a single entry and will rename it from pumpkin carving to pumping modding. So any modifications to a pumpkin will be allowed. (I am crossing my fingers hoping someone creates an ax swinging robotic pumpkin who deals a death blow to zombie robot pumpkins :D)

11-08-2010, 12:17 PM
congrats! CJ and Kayin/luthien send me your addresses so I can get your goodies out :D

As soon as I get my tax return, I'll (finally) be shipping product out.

Also, I'm still waiting for my prize. Which, of course, is quite fitting.
