So ya, my M11x that I've only used a couple times a week since I bought it a few months ago, now has broken hinges.

The screen won't close all the way, wobbles when opened, the back of the lid is separating from the screen leaving a big gap, and it will randomly POP close to the correct position.

Anyone go through Dell's warranty support before? Experiences? The thing that bothers me most is that even if they replace the whole screen / hinge / or unit, its a design flaw with plastic screw retention so it is going to happen again, as shown with a couple hundred page long posts of people having the same issue.

I take insane care of my stuff yet all of it is breaking / dying, yet people who throw things around and treat it like crap it all lasts forever. Blah!

The only experience I've had with a Dell warranty is bad caps killing my XPS motherboard a week or two after the warranty expired. They said tough luck even though I spent nearly $5k on it... They are not lenient at all and there are no exceptions. They still consider me a 'preferred customer' even though I don't.

I've only ever dealt with their business support, which is phenomenal. If you think the same problem will happen again, I would consider selling it once you get it replaced.

Lol. The funny / sad thing was I was deciding between the G73 and the m11x when I bought it. But the size was worth the performance decrease to me. Not worth it if the damn thing is broken though.

I love dell business, however note that their power bricks are not under the same warranty as the computer and expired in 30 days in my case so when it shorted internally i was looking at 70 dollars for a power brick or tear it apart myself... after some soldering and electrical tape i had a perfectly good working power brick that was a poor design in the first place.

It depends on who you get, sometimes I will call multiple times to get someone who is about to leave and pretty much just authorizes what ever I say.

So far all I've gotten is the run around. Been tossed to three different people so far, then given some other phone number to call. Bleh.

Your probably calling the oklahoma city center where i used to work.

Key word is "used to" in that sentence, and theres a solid reason for it. I honesly hope the best for you.

the majority of the people your talking to at that center have been working there for 90 days or less, and have actually about 0% experience with personal computers.

I quit dell 4 weeks after i was employed, just long enough to get the certification and i went back to work for my small company. Although the pay at the time was a lot less then what dell offered me, today i'm making more at this place then i was at dell

and it turns out everyone i went into the training courses with, was laid off about 3 months after that.

I guess its cheaper to lay off employees and keep the turn over rate up, then it is to pay into the benefits 401k packages and insurance.

it was either that, or i was the only one that knew what a flyback transformer was on a CRT monitor in a class of 50 people.
