Nice start.
Ooooh, are we going to see the profits of your recent flame practice? :D

Sweet! Is the brushed metal effect intentional? Cuz it looks awesome!!!
Thanks all. I'm pretty pumped about it too.
@Diluzio - The brushing effect is from sanding the existing clear coat on the panel. Those will all be covered up when the new clear goes on.
Part one of the video that goes with the case project. I'll get some action shots soon.

Nice!
Well, I didn't get a chance to film any because my wife was out with the camera, but here's the first side panel done.

I've done a lot of painting and always wished I could do awesome flames. Those look really good. It's hard to get that certain look of fire twirling around. Good job.:)
Thanks, BS. Flames sure do look easy enough to paint, but not so much eh? I would be remiss if I didn't thank Rick Primeau (http://www.primocustoms.com) for his refresher class yesterday. We spent about 4 hours on MSN with webcams painting. There's no clear on this yet. I'm using spraymax (2k clear in a can), and it has about a 24 hour pot life once you mix it.
Sorry for the lack of updates guys. I'm hoping to get some more done on this case this weekend. At least the top panel anyway.

I was starting to wonder what happened to you and this mod. :whistler:
It's still on. I just haven't had time to paint.
Here's the start to the top panel.

Looking good Rick , I might get some practice in with the airbrush one of these days, I just keep putting it off .
Here's the top panel done. The skull wasn't planned. I noticed what looked like eyes and the start of a bridge of a nose, and then just built on that. Oh, and I used my new Arson stencils from AirSickStencils. These things rock!!!

Only in the hands of someone that knows how to use them! And you have used them well. Great job, looking forward seeing them cleared!
Thanks Curtis. You're being too kind. I wanna start playing with those circuit board stencils they sent me. Those things are wicked.

You've got talent! How long have you been airbrushing?
Thanks Lothair. I've been at it about 3 years now. Only seriously into it for about a year. I've been lucky though, and have had a great teacher. I hope to actually meet him in person one of these days.
There's a video that goes along with these but it's gonna be a while before it's ready.

"Hot Stuff" Gonna look great cleared and assembled.
Nice work!
I used to have a case with that same window design...it was rather sh**, tbh...but then, it didn't have an awesome paint job. :D
Thanks everyone. I'm really anxious to get in the booth and get some clear on her. It's gonna look killer.

Here's some pictures from the booth. A big thanks goes out to Mike's Auto Collision in Niles, Ohio for letting me use his booth since my garage isn't heated.

Excellent 8).
Thanks you guys. I'm picking it up in about an hour and a half.
Clear has been cut and buffed. Now to just reassemble and give it back to it's owner. (After I take pictures with my good camera.)

Awesome finish and a great vid!!! I like that there is an option for the clear. How well does it lay down out of the can? Did it take any more cutting and buffing than other clears?

Love the depth in the flames, they truly look real!

It lays put real nice. For a cut and buff we just used some 1500 on a DA, and then polished with a buffing wheel on an angle grinder. Took about 5 minutes.
