DON'T USE IT TO UNINSTALL ANY ATI DRIVERS!!
It screws everything up. Thanks to DS, I have to do a fresh install of windows to get my display drivers working properly.
It started with the latest CCC version, I saw a bunch of people saying to use it first, so I did. Well now when I try to install CCC (any version) it doesn't give me the option for the display driver or CCC in the install manager.
All the research I've seen online points to DS screwing up something in the registry. And because I've been messing with it so long the restore point from prior to using DS is gone, so a fresh install is in order. Looks like I know how I'm spending my night tonight

I use it all the time on several machines with no problems. /shrug
I have lots of problems with ATI drivers though (never anything like you've experienced), so make sure you're blaming the right program. ;)

oh I am :D
I've updated CCC everytime before without it with zero issues. I've also read a lot online about DS causing this problem with catalyst, but it seems to be a 50/50 issue. Apparently I'm in the bad 50 lol
lesson learned though, I'm staying away from DS :D

I think Driver Sweeper is meant for uninstalling drivers that are either outdated or for hardware you are no longer using.

It doesn't get drivers for you, it gets rid of drivers that don't uninstall after you've uninstalled them.

well it uninstalls all the little bits and pieces that are left behind after you manually unisntall
I just use CCleaner's file and registry cleaner functions and don't worry about anything beyond that.

I just use CCleaner's file and registry cleaner functions...
I do the same, but CCleaner doesn't clean unused drivers and associated files. If you keep your drivers updated constantly then there are tons of old files sitting on your drive that are not doing anything. That's where DriverSweeper and similar programs come in to save the day...or allegedly ruin it.:)
