Ok so I have a pretty big trip planned for the new year, one which will involve, I imagine, taking a lot of photographs. Getting ready for this, I decided to get some additional SD memory for my digital camera, and after shopping around a bit, I ordered a pair of 32GB Class 6 SDHC cards.

I just popped one into my camera, a Casio Exilim EX-FH20 with a 9.1mp sensor, and with all of the settings set on high, everything except RAW enabled, it came up with space for 5786 photographs.

I think, no, I'm pretty sure I went a little bit too far lol, expecially as I already have 2 8GB cards and a 2GB one. Assuming the estimate is correct, that means I'm now in a position to take just under 15,000 photographs without a download..... lol

Oh yeah, my "spare" camera, a Fuji S5600 has a 4GB Card and it runs at 5.1mp, so that's good for another 900 or so lol

Breaking that down, I'm on this trip for 6 days, so a little over 2500 pics per day, assuming I sleep 8 hours, thats over 150 per hour, or a photograph roughly every 25 seconds I'm awake.... lol

So get on it. Your camera may have a time lapse setting, so use that and keep up!

LOL!

Well lol, it doesn't have time lapse... But it does have a 40 frames per second mode heh (at 7mp)

I'm with bozo, set it on time lapse and strap it to you head. :D

Ooops, that's what I get for starting stuff and walking away in the middle then not refreshing before spouting off.

Probably should have invested in a couple spare batteries. :P

Actually, that gives me an idea...get a cheap little camera with time lapse, shove a huge card and battery into it, and just walk around all day with it running. :D

I was thinking the same thing.

It gets worse lol - I decided to upgrade the camcorder which I really bought the 32GB cards for - the one I'm now going to get has 8gb built in, and there's a promotion going on from the manufacturer which will get me 2 free 16gb cards....

Both of my main cameras run on AA's - I have 5 sets of Li-Ion's between 2000 and 2900mAh so I think I'm set :p

Hey, what a coincidence! MY camera takes SD cards, too! And in the 720p video mode a 5-second clip takes up 17 MB. At 200 MB a minute I may be needing some extra space. :D

I'm toying with throwing a second hard disk in my main laptop (it CAN take 2, but only has one right now) just for additional backup space but it's getting to the point where I'm spending entirely too much money on this so I may have to reign it in a lil LOL - especially as I have to buy 3 $22 parts BEFORE I can get the second hard disk to fit - I'm thinking I may just go get a 1/2tb USB drive instead - i can probably get that for less than the fitting kit alone will cost me

Also I will bring a 1TB external with me which should cover things!
