Before, I was running it with it's basic driver that was loaded from Windows 7 (64bit). When default, it only has 3 speed settings rather than the 5. I didn't mind the stock drivers because I just kept it on the highest but lately it's been resetting itself and going to the middle setting.
I went ahead and installed the drivers and they worked for maybe 5 minutes then the mouse unloaded the drivers and it went back to default as if I never installed the software. Back to 3 settings and the custom key settings aren't functioning.

-I checked for motherboard updates and they're all up to date.
-I restarted the computer and the mouse loaded the software... froze for a second and unloaded the drivers.
-I noticed there's another "mouse" in the device manager... I feel like this is the touchpad on the laptop. I can't disable it but I can uninstall it... I may try that in case it's conflicting with the mouse.

Ideas? Could the mouse just be going south? It's roughly 3-4 years old.
