With the introduction of the 890FX, AMD finished off its 800 series chipset line. There are several advantages the 890FX has over its predecessor the 880FX, all of which we will get into a little bit later. Gigabyte has recently released several 890FX motherboards, including the one we will be taking a look at today.

"USB 3.0 will literally save me hours of transfer time"

You're external hard drives and USB thumb drives can saturate a USB 2 link oO

480MB/s...

Similar story with SATA 2, surely?

No my USB 2.0 Externals and Thumb drives have yet to fully saturate a USB 2.0 channel. With that said I have experienced decreased transfer times with USB 3.0.

I remember looking into this board, but I ended up with the Asus. This one sounds great, but didn't fit in as well with the overall appearance of my computer.
