I know from experience that once the DSLR bug bites, the infection is incurable. Now set that switch to M and never move it to anything else!

It's a Sony A330.

What shutter speed?

Your aperture (f stop), iso, and shutter speed settings will depend on the available light in your shot. Generally the lower the ISO, the better but in low light situations a higher ISO might be necessary if a lower ISO would mean an unbearable shutter speed. You can use your f stop to not only control how much light enters your lens, but also your depth of field. Objects photographed with a higher f stop will have their background more in focus, and objects photographed with a lower f stop will have a more shallow depth of field. (blurred background)

There are more factors to it than that, but playing around with your shutter speed, and aperture will give you a hand at what does what, and how they can work together. When we are in Vegas I will go more into detail as it will be easier to show you then.

The a330 isn't bad. I kinda like the shallow DOF stuff myself.
