Hey guys great to be back on i have a question about usb drives i havent really tried running apps on a thumb drive before .

i was under the impression you couls run usb apps without installing them on computer everything jsut installs any ideas certain kind of app i should get ? thanks in advance

You could run ubuntu off of that.

You could run almost any app that has a "portable" version. You can find these in various spots and can come in handy very often. Hirens boot cd is on a usb drive that I keep on my keychain. It has helped me out of alot of jams.

Have a look at http://portableapps.com/. You could try it with a browser just to have a lightweight small program to test.
+1 for portableapps.com. They're awesome. You can even easily add other portable programs into the menu if they don't have it on their website.

ubuntu is easy to install to usb drive allyou ahve to do is installing it like your installing it onto a harddrive.

Thanks a lto guys i will be checking that site a lot one question about unbutu if i have it installed along side win 7 on my pc if windows get s a virus it wont affect linux at all will it thanks again guys

+1 for PortableApps.com. I used to use PA on a flash drive to be able to use firefox (and tabbed browsing) at work since the alternative was IE6 (in 2010, IE6 really?!). It is great for taking data and settings with you if you're using multiple computers.
