He's already got a Corsair 750W psu and a GTX460, so this is what we got to replace his C2D setup:
NZXT Phantom Black (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146068)
EVGA GTX 460 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130570)
Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3-1333 triple channel kit (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145220)
Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3 1366 Mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128456)
Core i7-950 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115211)
Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106150)
And an extra 200mm NZXT fan to put in the side panel on the Phantom (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835146003)
I was originally going to put this together for him and do some case mods, but he blew his budget on parts and has none left for modding lol

I just built something similar spec - went with AMD, a 1090T, Gigabyte motherboard and 8GB of XMS3, a H50 and the phantom. You'll love working in the case.
You should have gone with a sealed water cooling loop and the optional side fan, really helps with something as hot as a 4870x2!

well he got the optional 200mm side panel fan (for the pair of GTX460's in SLI), but he wasn't interested in WC....yet. he also wasn't interested in OC'ing at all until me talkin about it gave him the bug lol. But I did chose the Frio for him because after reading the review here I know it'll handle that proc with mild OC levels :D
he got all the parts in yesterday and was putting it together last night, I'll see if I can get him to send me some nice pics of this thing

The reason I suggested a H50 or similar is that I don't think that side fan is going to fit with a Frio onboard. I did some reasearch on this and as far as I could tell it looked like a no.
I might be wrong though, could you let me know?

well he's got the system up and running and I haven't heard anything bad yet. If it doesnt fit he can always just put it in the second top exhaust hole though
