I think if you are going to postively rep someone you should leave a name:up: and yes it is because someone repped me and simply put because I can...

I actually disagree to an extent. Sure if you want to leave your name, go for it, but I kinda think it almost makes you feel like the person giving you rep is hoping to get some rep back, for no other reason than because they gave you a thumbs up...

Kinda a tough one - I'd say leave it as it is - if you WANT to put your name, go for it, but if you just want to say something nice or even just show appreciation without a comment, just do that. :)

more of a personal level thing than a board recommendation I'm not looking for rep for rep either mainly calling out whoever just because I can is as they are comedian after my own heart if sorts type of thing

I can throw you a neg rep "just because I can" to balance it out if it will help.

Personally I always put two things in a rep field:
1) Why I'm giving them rep.
2) My s/n.

I don't think either should be required, per se, I just know that's what I like to know when I get rep, so that's what I put in. :D

All my reps have the reason and a ~Oneslowz28 or ~CJ at the end.

and by pit bull do you mean kind gentle and loving? :D

unless you're talkin about a poor pit who was raised to fight....then their owners should be neutered

I think a "+Rep" mention in thread is helpful too. The reason can be stated more clearly. Putting your sig in the Rep line is just a shortcut to your reason.

lol, now I finally know who "CJ" is.

There is an option to turn on visibility of who's sent the rep on this version of vbulletin, no?

no.

Does it really matter? The way it is set up is to let the person who gives Rep (+ or -) the choice. IF there is ever a problem, Admins have the ability to look up names and comments.

no.

...Really? Been a while since I administered a forum but it should be in Usergroup > Registered users > User Reputation Permissions > Can See Who Left User Ratings

LOL.. I should have clarified that where there is an option in Vbulletin to turn it on, there isn't an option for this version meaning this site. The decision was made to keep it anonymous when we installed it, and I see no good reason to change it.

Been a while since i have posted but decided to give some input.
You should be thanking people for the rep.
People like myself who would kill to get a +rep, while people like you get +reps all the time.
I'm just saying "why complain?". Even if it's about people leaving their names it's still complaining, be grateful for what you receive.

Ah, okay, thanks for clearing that up! I thought I was going mad...

Basically a guy told me that my American Pit Bull Terrier is just going to snap and maul my kids to death because of the breed. It has nothing to do with the fact that I proved him wrong at every turn including using his own sources against him and proving that his beloved golden retriever is on the record books for killing people. Hell even a dachshund is on the books for a few fatalities. Said person also admitted to watching court tv all day then called me a libtard and said I should write speeches for Obama because of the way I can spin facts to serve my purpose. Then I challenged him to the American pitbull terrier line up which he declined to take because he had nothing to prove.

Anyway I don't want it to be viewed as me complaining I rarely recieve rep unless I take the time to do one of two things: make someone laugh or prove a point in a very controversial way. My mods never come to fruition because I always hit a stumbling block such as right I have an ebay seller who is screwing me around on thermal tape, a speeding ticket to pay, and christmas coming up along with other regular bills. Long story short I just wondered what everyone felt and was extremely curious as to who "just because I can" was. If this is viewed as a problem close da thread lol.

And then sometimes you can just look at the time stamp and see that even the devil has a halo sometimes.....

I always leave a comment and my name when I +rep, I also usually make note of it in my thread post. Just seems like common courtesy.
