I just bought my first blu-ray player. I had no idea that almost every one has built in internet for streaming Netflix and Youtube. Weird.

Anyway, my first Blu-Ray movie purchase was The Last Air Bender

Unfortunately, my Sharp Aquos TV is only 1080i :(

Get the Transformers and Iron Man movies... FKNG awesome on bluray.
Got the Terminator series on bluray, too, also completely kickass. I don't even buy dvd's anymore, bluray is just plain awesome.
My opinion, the new movies, that are actually shot with hi-def cameras, are better to buy on bluray. The older ones, well it's hit and miss. Mostly, they are about the same as a dvd played with a good upconverting dvd player.

Mine has both. Apparently, I have to order a Sony device to have wifi, but I may just try a normal USB wifi drive

You mean as opposed to the old ones that were shot in 35mm for 4K theaters? ;) Really, for the older ones I think it has more to do with if the originals are still available or not.

Honestly, I don't even know why I bother sometimes.

I only have 4 Bluray discs. Avatar (Original Release) and Avatar (Special Edition 3 disc set). Planned to get more though!

That justifies the price in itself damn near. I didn't know that... you'd think they would cram that detail down your throat in advertising.

Apparently I have to use a Sony wifi device (about $70 on ebay) because a PC USB wifi will not be able to install it's drivers on a TV

Find out what chipset the sony device uses and I bet you can find a cheap one that uses the same one that'll work with it.

this is the definition of being a modder. right there. if you cant get the first thing to work . find a work around.

nah....modder's motto is "why even bother trying to get the first thing to work?" ;)

have to admit, I've got an LG bluray player, about a year old, my fiancee and I watch netflix wirelessly on it all the time and love it. the Planet Earth series looks INCREDIBLE in bluray, although Dark Knight weirdly alternates between scenes that fill the whole screen and scenes that don't ... like it's switching aspect ratios on the fly. It's very strange, but I don't own any other blurays so I'm hoping it's just the one.

In addition to some of the Blu-Rays listed (Avatar, Iron Man, Transformers) I would also recommend Prince of Persia and Sherlock Holmes. Both look extremely nice in high-def!

BluRay is awesome. Just got my drive for the media center last night and also Transformers 2 from netflix. Took a little bit to set up due to software issues but after that man it looks good. Especially on the new 50" plasma I picked up on black friday.

@ artoodeeto
Dark Knight does this because it puts the scenes filmed in IMAX resolution in there. I read something about it and I'll see if I can find the article again.

I have to get bluray. I'm cheap (aka poor). I'll get around to it one day. My tv isn't big enough or high enough definition-wise to justify buying bluray. I want a bigger/nicer tv anyway, so it would be something I'd buy before getting a new player.

50"!? Wow. I don't ever think I'll need one that big. Although, my 32 inch TV is starting to look small.

only 1080i :(

Digital TVs don't interlace; it'll display in 720p

If you have a 1080p+ display on that, it'll actually look better than a larger display. Higher DPI'll do that. :D

Too true. My friend has a Sony laptop with A 16" 1080p screen and the pixel density is sickening
