As it stands right now I have a basic garage. Lots of tools and such, well organized, but it is lacking the tech that I need to thoroughly enjoy things.

My idea... to install a server machine in my garage that can interface with the various vehicles I have and potentially control my projects and stereo system as well.

Components:

- Old, slow betsy, my linux machine.
- Stereo receiver
- Lots of shop speakers
- Various serial cables and adapters, these will be used to interface with my track car for my megasquirt setup so I can tune at my work bench on a dedicated area rather than on my laptop. I can use a laptop as well for mobility but having one in the shop will be fantastic.
- Solar panels and batteries used for alternate mini projects as alternate power (green, yay. But don't be fooled, I'm not a hippie).

I'll begin this weekend as I have had various plans and simply never set it into motion. I find when I post up a worklog I am far more apt to make progress XD

Sounds neat. Another sweet thing to add in would be voice activation. :D

Don't be ashamed, hippies are welcome here too. ;)

Lol i don't know if voice activation would really be necessary for anything, well, maybe for music! I essentially want to add a station that i can interact with things in my garage and add my tech feel to it.

actually my buddy just built a megasquirt for a rabbit. he put a jetta engine into it and stripped the sucker down to 1700lbs. fast little bugger. i'll get pics of it the next time i'm over.

i'm putting megasquirt on my Porsche 924.
