Free Laptop

So, a friend gave me an old apple laptop he was throwing out. I offered to take it off his hands. I figured at the very least the hard disk would be useful. The one in my current old lapdog isn't in the best condition.

So, I opened the case, and decided immediately that it's beyond repair.

Digging through the parts I noticed the touchpad. Is it any use?

Oh, and the disk? 500MB, so I'll just keep my 2GB in the laptop.

hmmm.... i have the PERFECT solution.

you're from the Philipines right? ive been there on the 2 best days of the year, Christimas and new years. i know first hand how powerfull the fireworks are - i was in Manila on the 1st of january.

and btw, i did slightly regret killing the laptop, as i could of used it. but from almost getting caught by the police from burning it in a community park, watching an old once expensive laptop melt, and having it hackaday'ed, it was well worth it. and for those of you who are not fortunate to have philipino quality fireworks, use picolos, they are the loudest, and most powerfull legal fireworks you can get.

i hear there is a way to turn a HD into a disk access indicator. you might look for that on the net. there is a guy named zapwizard. look here

That laptop either got put in an oven or was witness to a good sized fire. That's what happens to lcd's when they get oven warm.

Interesting, I don't think I'll do that but it has given me an idea...

Instead of an LED for disk access, use an ammeter.

Anyway, I was actually looking for ideas for the touchpad. It may still work, or it may not. I suspect it's probably ok.
But since I don't have the time, the equipment or the willingness to investigate it, it's free to anyone who wants it and can figure out how to integrate it into their mod.
