this case was held together by.... thousands of machine screws. getting it appart was a real pain.

Oooh, I love the blackbird cases. Did you buy it separately or did you have an actual blackbird?

HP did something right with that case, looking forward to seeing what you'll do!

Yeah it's really a shame they killed the series.

@ indybird: the case was bought used, and separately

@ bs mods: thanks for the offer but I already have more clothes then i know what to do with haha.

Thanks everyone for all of the kind comments. I found out the hard way that it is too cold to paint. I sanded down the front i/o top and primed it fine... but when I sprayed my second coat of paint it did not go on smooth... at all. not too sure what I can do other then wait for warmer weather, or get it professionaly painted (although I think that would be out of my buget)

Nice. I'm also a fan of the Blackbird cases ...not so much the pricetag, but the case design, definitely. :D

That's a shame about the paint. Do you have anywhere at least semi-enclosed you could do it?

Can't wait to see how this turns out. I'm in the same boat for painting, hope it works out for you.

@x88x; I really love this case but when you take it appart some of the plastic parts are very brittle you would expect such an expesive case to be made with some better matterials.

as for painting, I have a garage that I could use. It gets pretty cold though. I had the idea to use a space heater... but looking into it seems like it might just be a horrable idea. I dont want to blow up my garage. :P lol

The trick to painting in the garage is to get it warm for a few hours ahead of time and then shut the heater off when you spray. Let it sit for an hour, open the door for a few minutes to get fresh air, shut it and turn the heat back on.

No KaBoom

That paint looks really nice, even in the not so amazing quality pics. I check a couple times a week on ebay for one of these machines. There's one ending soon that's about the right price. (Please people don't steal the win from me!)
