When I bought my Alienware M11x laptop a year ago it was kind of fast, but just not enough. So, I bought 8GB of RAM and a new 750GB hard Drive. Even after this I still just wasn't getting enough speed. I finally decided to drop $250 and buy a 120GB Mushkin Callisto Deluxe Solid State drive.

Finally!!

My computer now boots in less than 20 seconds and shuts down in just 4!!

I'm so tempted to put one in my wife's lappy too...

Heheh. Welcome to the future. :D None of my systems (yes, including my server ;) ) have a platter OS HDD anymore.

I don't know why my RAM scored .2 points higher

WEP results can vary a little between subsequent tests, even without hardware changes. RAM and storage scores in particular seem "unfixed" and dependant on what the OS happens to be running (and how much caching/paging is being done) at any given moment. Worse yet, WEP "points" are based on arbitrary (and unknown) Microsoft preferences, we don't know what "5.5" actually means in real terms, the WEP software is probably designed with some bias to making each subsequent Windows OS score just a little higher than before when run on the same hardware platform.

WEP is good for marketing hype, basic diagnostics, and rough comparisons - but it's quite inferior to intensive benchmarking software. If you don't like the 0.2 variance then just close all your apps, kill as much background stuff as possible, clean up your system drive, and run the test again.

I would say that it is a good thing that you are the opposite of TGS, lol his is a laptop ;) although his laptop scores higher on WEP than my desktop does...

It's my Alienware. Specs are:

Intel Dual core U7300 @1.7GHz
120GB Mushkin SSD
8GB DDR3
GeForce GT335 1GB
11 inch screen
5 hour battery average

I think I'll sell it in a couple of years and get whatever the updated version is at the time, hopefully it'll at least have an i7.

Well, you can already get an i7 in the current version of that model, so I think you'll be set. ;)
