Yes it's true, I have been soft drink free for almost 3 weeks now. I can't say that I feel any different, but I am visiting the bathroom much less now, and I am drinking 2 cases of bottled water a week.

I buy my water at Aldi. $2.50 for a case of 24. I like the convenience of a bottle.

Keep it up. The sugar, caffeine, and whatever makes the fizz is not good for you. I had to give up soda over three years ago. I've been away from the stuff for so long that the effervescence offends me now.

I used to get bad headaches due to the caffeine addiction. But I get way less headaches now that I no longer have a steady intake of caffeine. Breaking that addiction was not easy though.

So I recommend that everyone gives up soda. The only thing good about it is the way it tastes.

I am still drinking a few gatoraids here and there, and I drink a ton of coffee in the mornings.

I went caffeine free for 90 days once.. I felt so good... too bad I snapped after a bad day, and started back into the energy drinks.

For me, soda (in Canada we say "pop") is not a constant thing, more of a once in awhile treat, but it's almost always diet for me. I'm trying to cut down the sugar intake, so that's where I'm starting. :)

Funny, me too about the same time. My poison of choice was diet coke. It was out of hand. I could drink a 2 liter bottle of diet coke and go to sleep. Caffeine had no affect on me anymore. I went cold turkey with crushing headaches but the last week or so has been fine. I've been drinking tea to mitigate some of the effects but not really into it.

I've never really been able to drink much soda, and we virtually never have them around our house. I have a soda about once a week at school, but even then, I have a hard time finishing them because I feel full after drinking half a can. I suppose it's a good thing to have a natural soda-consumption inhibitor though.

This was my reason, plus I was visiting the bathroom to drain the main vein about 10 times a night.

I need to do something myself. My problem is a little more serious heh - I ONLY drink Diet Coke. Nothing else really. I don't do coffee, I'll have a cup of tea with one of two meals which is maybe 2 a month, or a bottle of McDonalds OJ if I get a McDonalds breakfast (again maybe 2 a month at most) Other than that, nothing but Diet Coke - I'd estimate 6-10 cans a day.....

I had a coke the other week for the first time in maybe a year. Need a sugar cafiene hit and didn't want coffee. Soft drinks are fattening and terrible for you. I just drink loads of water and a bit of alcohol every now and again.

I'll take my well water boys.. it has all them fancy minerals that they spend so much time stripping out and then trying to inject back into the water.. I want to see a tour of a bottled water facility.. I am picturing several hundred children boiling water in plastic tents for hours on end and then tossing the mineralized pot to the next kid in line trying to scrape them back in to qualify it as mineral water...

Get a couple of good reusable bottles and a filter pitcher. Cheaper, better for the environment, and healthier. The cheaper plastic bottles leach chemicals into the water pretty quickly. We've got a Britta pitcher and a bunch of bottles because in the summer I go through 1-2 gallons a day depending on how much physical work I'm doing. The great with reusable bottles, you can put whatever you want in them.

Place multiple water bottles in frequently used locations so that you always have access to one. Buy Crystal Light to smooth the transition from soda to water.

That worked very well for me. Unfortunately, I'm now addicted to Crystal Light. Thankfully it's far more cost efficient than pretty much anything else on the market. Lol

I used to drink Mountain Dew a lot..like, 8-10 cans to get through an 8 hour work day. ..strangely enough, now that I'm actually doing stuff at work I don't need nearly as much caffeine to stay awake.

Now I'm down to one 20oz a day (it's actually a Sobe bottle refilled from a 2L bottle ;) ), and either water or lemonade at home. I agree, it really does make you feel a lot better. Oh, and it has to be the frozen lemonade mix...the powdered stuff just tastes like crap now. :P

For water, I'm personally partial to well water as well, but since I'm on city...and city water tastes like *&%#...Brita pitcher it is. Plus, the pitcher in the fridge means I always have nice cold water. :D Interestingly enough, the previous owners of my house seem to have had one too...I found two unopened 12-packs of the filters in a closet...looks like I'm set for a few years. :D

On a side note, does anyone know what to do with the old filters? I feel like they should be able to be recycled, but haven't seen anywhere saying they'll do that.

You'd probably be quite disappointed...more often than not it's probably just tap water or maybe filtered tap water. :P
