Well I may have been missed yesterday. I spent most of the day clearing a couple of tree's from our road so PG&E could repair the lines. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you view it), my neighbor will not be using his carport any time soon..

LOL. This is where a 'top down' method of tree removal might have been better than the 'bottom up' approach ;)

That's quite the stunning area you live in. Whereabouts is that?
Pretty sure the neighbor needed an upgrade anyways, from the look of it. Now he's got a bit-o-firewood and a half decent excuse! See, you were actually doing him a favor. Now the trick is to get him to see it that way. lol
Thats up in the good ol' California Redwood mountains

I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
HERE (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=95006&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=47.349227,80.419922&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Boulder+Creek,+California+95006&ll=37.127647,-122.113037&spn=0.00586,0.009817&t=h&z=17)
TBH you really could not park a car in that thing to begin with. It was already falling down, but it didn't look like it until now. About 4 feet from the front of the carport, the bank drops off sharply to the creek 50' below. One good push and the thing may just slide down the hill.
What is going to be fun is the battle of the insurance companies and personal lawsuits. The owners of the demolished carport have been absent for 8 months and the property is vacant. They have insurance.
The property that the tree fell from is also vacant (for many years) and the owner is a deadbeat and has no insurance. His house is almost 600 square feet and is systematically being destroyed by the redwoods. It is surrounded by trees that continue to grow and crush it while lifting it off the ground. It is now entirely supported by the surrounding redwoods. We call it the "Tree Cracker House".
Honestly the entire neighborhood would be delighted if both houses disappeared since both of them have bad histories.

This article was for the tree that fell across bear creek, just a couple dozen yards up the street.
Isn't that closer to where you live? (or are you at college now?)
(man did you edit your message or am I seeing things? lol)

After I read the article again I didnt think it was the same tree, but it seems it was actually pretty close. Im in Brookdale (so you're closer) going to Cabrillo right now but transfering to a UC next semester.

Yes, the article was for the tree by Urella (know where that is?).
I thought you were farther from BC on Bear Creek... lol...
How do you like Cabrillo? I did most of my culinary classes there and only a few general ed courses. If you get a chance, go to lunch at the Sesnon House across the street from the main campus. Great food, good prices. All by students.
I actually like the college quite a bit. All the professors and administration is really nice and helpful. On a couple occasions I had a few problems with the high school giving Cabrillo the wrong admission forms when I was still in high school but they were quick to get everything fixed.
On a side note, my power came back after going out about an hour ago from a tree hitting power lines on Hwy 9. Man I love the redwoods and rain.

Unfortunately if you look at it from a different angle...

You can see my dilemma. Yep thats my 07 Magnum under that.
Fortunately it was an "Act of God" so the insurance covered it with no issues. But they didn't get it out from under that tree.
