I just wanted to give everyone here a nice thank you. Because of TBCS, I'm starting school January 3rd to further my education and enhance my life.
I went to MMI (http://www.uti.edu/Campus-Locations/MMI-Phoenix) in Phoenix right after high school (graduated HS in 02)because of my love of the powersports industry. The industry at that time was booming like crazy. I graduated from MMI in 04 and have been in the industry since. I've been a tech, service writer, and most currently a parts manager (past 3 years).
As of late, the industry is going downhill in a big way. New sales are almost non-existant. First because noone wanted to spend their money for fear of the economy, and now people want to spend, but the banks aren't letting them. So after seeing all of this firsthand I decided I needed to do something else with my professional life.
Since finding this place and getting more into computers and modding, it has also gotten me intot he electronics field. Especially with the help of CJ, crenn, and x88x, I've learned a lot and have gotten deeper and deeper into it every day, from learning Arduino and basic electrical to designing my first circuit board and having it made (which I'm still troubleshooting lol)
Because of this, I've decided to go back to school and get my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (http://www.devry.edu/degree-programs/college-engineering-information-sciences/electronics-engineering-technology-about.jsp). I'm taking classes online through DeVry (http://www.devry.edu/) University. This will not only expand my abilities in my professional life, but also help me out a lot with my personal. From electrical hobbies, to becoming more financially stable for my wife and I.
I'll be turning 27 on January 25th, so I figured since I'm not getting any younger I needed to do something now.
So again, thanks to everyone here at TBCS. This place is amazing. Full of friendly, helpful, supportive people, none of which mind doing something a little extra. I've been given a lot and learned a lot here, and hopefully I can eventually give back and teach just as much.
Lastly, I wanted to share this awesome video from well-known maker Jeri Ellsworth about learning electronics. Very good advice here. Pay attention :D
