Wow, color me impressed. That i5 2500K is looking quite appealing. Trounces the 1090T on most tests they did, with not much more than half the power consumption, and a similar cost.

...AMD, Bulldozer better be pretty spectacular...

Unless I missed something, they did everything on the Intel BXXTS100H HS/F (ie, no, not water ;) ).

The cooler provided excellent cooling throughout our testing and all the way up to 4.3GHz on the Q setting. At 4.5GHz the Core i7 2600K was starting to reach 70C under load so we switched from Q to P. Those looking to go beyond 4.5GHz will want to look into a more robust aftermarket solution.

They used a Corsair H50 for the cooling while overclocking.

he K-Series CPU cooler was performing admirably; load temperatures were reaching 65C so it was well within reason. Going past 4.5GHz required additional voltage, and I decided that extra cooling would be a good idea so I strapped on a Corsair H50.

Ah ok, missed that. In my defense (sorta?) I didn't really read the entire article...just skimmed the conclusions. :P

I'm sick of changing sockets. Now I have to relearn the chips again.

It actually has pretty poor reviews. There are plenty of air coolers (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018) that perform better

FYI:
Microcenter in-store-only deals:
i5 2400 : $150
i5 2500K : $180
i7 2600 : $250
i7 2600K : $280

Plus, more off if you get a couple different MBB combos.

If you can fit that behemoth in your case...

I'm idling right now at 22-25ºC (depending on which core you lok at) with the H50 and a second fan for a push/pull setup, and that's with my Sentry 2 set to 40% as well :D

I'm really pumped for this. Sandybridge could be the solution to a gaming NES I've been dying for for years.

I seriously hate the name for this chipset. Sandybridge? reminds me of a bridge over a canal.

Set up properly, before I overclocked, mine idled at 4 degrees above room teperature, wennt up to about 10 above room temerature when at 100%

Overclocked to 4Ghz, it rarely even hits 50.
