Well I'm sitting in Paris now waiting for my second flight. We left the house back in England at stupid o'clock this morning (think it was about 4.15am) and in the rush I managed to leave my phone in the house. No big deal - it's only my Android phone with all the details of every meeting, every location, every contact..... Heh.
Anyway we got away from Newcastle on time, and arrived in Paris a little early. Now I'm sitting waiting for the flight to Pittsburgh and typing this using the free 15 minutes of access you get before the airport asks you to bend over and have some stupid rates erm, well, inserted so the next time you hear from me, it'll most likely be in Pittsburgh where our hotel has wifi included in the price.
If anyone can give me a heads up as I really don't have time to search - what's the cheapest option to get my hands on a Android based phone for the week I'm in Vegas - can they be rented? What are my prepay options (if any???)
Anyway, going to hit the Submit button before I run out of time - speak to you all from Pittsburgh, and see the other attending staff members tomorrow morning when I fly from Pittsburgh to Vegas
Ciao for now :)

Ohhh.. that sucks!!! Well here is what I could find quickly...
Virgin Mobile has the Samsung Intercept for $249 running 2.1 and a 25/mo 300 minutes/unlimited data, upto 60/mo for unlimited everything. I think they even take paypal.

T-Mobile has the Comet Prepaid for 149.99. I read on other sites its running 2.2, but it doesn't say ON the T-Mobile website. Plans seem a bit steeper with Voice ranging from 10 bucks for 30 min to 100 bucks for 1000. There is 160 for 30. Data is an additional charge.. There is 100MB for 10 bucks a week. 30 bucks for 300 MB or 50 bucks for 1GB a month.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

You should probably see about having it shipped to you UPS/FedEx if at all possible. That would probably be your cheapest option.

/\ This. I'm not leaving until Friday, you'll have time to have it shipped to me to hand-deliver it to you if it will help.
Sucks about the phone. Agreed though, if you need an Android phone, shipping the one you already have will be the cheapest option. You can pick up a cheap, pre-paid dumbphone for $10-30, but anything running Android is gonna run you a good bit.

Well I made it as far as Pittsburgh - it's now 4.25 local time, which according to my personal bodyclock is 9.25 pm, and I had a total of about 90 minutes sleep last night, along with, at most 2 hours off and on while on the plane. My next flight is tomorrow morning from Pittsburgh to Vegas, which leaves here at 8.25am so I'm going to have to be on the 6am shuttle from the hotel to get to the airport the required 2 hours before the flight.
Actually not feeling too bad but we'll see how another 3 hour time change tomorrow during a 5-6 hour flight adds to it :D
Have pretty much given up on the idea to get an Android in hand for this trip - sucks because I had everything stored there but I can access almost everything that's there thru my google account - I just won't have access unless I'm connected via a laptop.
Going to hit a local store soon for a couple bits and pieces, then go out for some dinner followed by some sleep I think....
One more day and its Vegas time :D

Well that's the last hurdle out of the way (other than geographicaly I mean).... I'm sitting writing this in the departure gate area in Pittsburgh where my final (for a week) flight to the Bright Lights is due to depart in about an hour. Bags checked, laptops charges, cellphone STILL at home dammit lol. I figure I made it here with about 95% of the stuff I wanted to bring so it isn't like I'm doing badly really....
The flight actually departs at 8:15 according to this board - I could have sworn it was 8.25.... As for this whole 2 hours before your flight deal - that gets old real fast when you're doing one flight after another over a couple of days. To fully comply with that rule this morning (which I did actually try to do) I would have had to have been at the airport at 6.15am - the hotel shuttle runs on the half hour and its an 18-22 minute ride, so I'd have had to have been on the 5.30am shuttle. As it was I JUST missed (I mean I could see the things exhaust vapours in the cool air) the 6am shuttle, ended up getting the 6.30 and I've been at the departure gate, so past security, past checkin etc, since about 7.15. It took me literally 45 minutes from Hotel to Gate - that's not bad.....
Another 6 hours or so and I'll be on the ground in Vegas and the 3rd of our team will be on site to bring you guys lots of info etc on the 2011 CES
Dude, you're gonna fly right over me!

Well a little late in my response, but you're probably right. We just got back to the room after a little bite to eat and now we're heading out to hit somewhere else....
I'm looking forward to The Hangover inspired pics. :whistler:
I've never been interested in CES before but I am now. It'll be interesting to see what a modder makes of the event. Extra points if the vendors can tell you how to take it apart or mod it. :)
