It sounds like there is a good chance that the iPhone will finally be coming to Verizon. Although I'm still fairly dubious. I'm pretty tired of this particular rumor mill, even with it being an almost for sure thing this time.

Verizon having both the iPhone as well as pretty much every major android device will be interesting. It'll for sure dampen AT&Ts user base and interest I'd think. Which is a good thing. They're a pretty much crap company. So is verizon, but not nearly as bad at all.

I convinced my mom to get a Samsung Focus (running Win Phone 7) and I have to say it's pretty freaking awesome. I would take the a Windows Phone 7 phone over an iPhone any day.

if it comes, like the article says, it won't use the new LTE network, so everyone will forget that because they're iTrendies,a nd get pissed in 6 months when they come out with the iphone that uses the LTE

and it still DOESN'T USE FLASH!

Get a Droid or Win 7 Phone :D

I'd only want one for the app store. There's no other reason. At all. There are actually reasons to not want one. lol

Still though. Money for verizon is money for Android as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, they've been saying for a while that they would put one out in 2011. Personally it doesn't really concern me since I have absolutely zero interest in buying an iPhone, regardless of network. My N900 on T-Mo works fine for me. Coverage isn't quite as good as Verizon, but for $20/mo cheaper than Verizon, I can live with that. :P

I just read an article about this, actually.
Basically, yes Verizon is getting the iPhone. However; a) it will only work on 3G, b) Verizon will always be a step behind AT&T with phone releases, C) also, Verizon uses CDMA, AT&T uses GSM. Meaning, on AT&T's network, you can talk and surf the web at the same time.

Yep. It's official. Feburary 10th I believe? And 3G not LTE, unfortunately but not overly disappointing or surprising.

@Mark - A.) Most areas only have 3G, so I don't think that this is an issue as of now. Future renditions when there's better LTE support will probably birth a corresponding device. B.) How do you figure that? Isn't Verizon basically known at this point for it's Android sets as well as other smartphones? The lineup, especially now, seems to be in favor of Verizon and increasingly so. I mean they went from nobody to the hottest Androids almost over night aside from the blip that was started by TMobile. But nobody talks about TMo these days really. People are also very explicative concerning AT&T. Verizon also continually wins best X service awards. C.) LTE is based on GSM. So in further renditions this won't be a problem. But concerning the now, is it that big of a deal? It's a bummer, but I can't think of the last time I've needed to do this. How does everyone else feel about this?

Also, you can use the Verizon iPhone as a router for up to 5 devices. Pretty cool. Wonder if it costs extra?

Did you read the article? Caaaause that pretty much literaly answers those questions, categorically.

on AT&T's network, you can talk and surf the web at the same time.

Well, if it had real multitasking that is... ;)

Oh, you mean Verizon will be a step behind in iPhone releases? Sorry, I misread what you were saying. But in any case, nobody actually knows that for sure. And generally Apple does a big update followed by a small one. Last year was the big one. This year will probably be small. So even if Verizon doesn't get the update, they more than likely will get next years. It's not really a concern for anyone in my opinion. Especially when you consider that the updates are mostly hardware either way. And nobody buys the iPhone because it's a leader in the bleeding edge, simply because it's not. So however you slice it, I don't think what happens later this year, or doesn't happen for that matter, will actually matter.

But back to the point concerning your point "B". You said it in a sort of factual manner, but it's not. Nobody knows at this point.

Also, concerning point "C", that of course is only true when you actually have signal. :p (which actually is a legit concern for a lot of people, joking aside.) I'm still curious though, does anyone here actually care about this?

Well, there have been a few times where it damn sure would have been nice to look something up while on the phone (when you're not around a computer). Not a necessity, but a luxury.
I had Verizon, and while they are kinda pricey, I was actually pretty happy with them.
