those look very similar. Have you considered buying used?

Actually, I have had really good luck with ATI when it comes to coverage. They replaced one of my old All-in-wonder cards that was way out of warranty. Maybe the NVIDIA people will do the same if the card does crash, might be worth a look anyway and could save some dough.

there are a couple of reasons i want nvidia

for one i already bought the mobo and processor and the mobo has the nforce4 sli chipset and is sli capable

this leads me to reason number 2 that i will buy one card now and the next later in whatever one i end up getting

and reason # 3 is that i would like to get an x800 if i did go ati but that does not support ps3.0 which is a con for me

so as of right now it is a tough decision between the two of the above listed cards

whats the point of sli if your going to be using cheap cards? I would be cheaper and better to get the better card?

well yes because im impatient and want to build it and upgrade from my POS PC
as soon as possible and sli lets me get better performance over time although it may not be top of the line i can deal with that but if i do get the chance and get a decent amount of money i will take advantage of it and get a better card at that time instead of sli but right now i really would like to know any opinions on these 2 cards and which one you think is better

If I were you I would save up a bit more and get something like this

I did exactly what you're doing and bought a cheaper card because i didnt want to save up and i was impatient, and i regretted it for a while.

I agree.
Buying a "stop-gap" GPU is just wasted money.
Just save up for your intended GPU.

i had been looking at a 7600GT but the 128 memory bus scared me off and i am looking at that as an option now because i see your point but how is this card

that X800 would be better. they overclock like no tomorrow and you can even flash the BIOS to a GTO2.

go for it, man.
