I've seen the concept before...ungodly expensive though. I wonder how difficult it would be to do a diy one....I wouldn't imagine too difficult. At the simplest end you could just do an AVR at each end with an op-amp to boost the signal. At the more complex, add in another IC to work the networking stack and handle the I/O over UDP. You could even write a software client to decode the UDP packets and interface with a virtual USB host. :think: Hmmm, that could be the answer to cheap networked security cameras I've been trying to find.
