Be aware, there's a f-bomb in this at about 4:20 in case you're likely to be offended by it...

I think the sentiment of this video is appropriate for some, if not many, but still, I think it's quite disingenuous for those who use the site to stay in touch with their friends

This is alot more geared towards the generation that has grown up on facebook rather than people who grew up without it. The mindset of some kids these days is totally different with no values that some of the rest of us grew up with. I use facebook to catch up with friends and also grow my business by meeting new people. I am friends with some people that I didn't much like in high school, but that doesn't mean that we are not friends now. In fact with most of them they/I have changed and we have more in common and have gotten over whatever petty differences we had back then.

This video is what he thinks of facebook and in the generation of I have more friends on facebook than you do it is very accurate.

"I'm not judging you"
...
"You look like you're licking windows"

And that fella is almost certainly older than I am.

I was in high school when facebook was still spreading through the colleges. There was some debate about whether or not it would be at my college by the time I got there. It was, and I was pretty happy to join and have it to stay in touch with my high school friends.

Fast forward several years and I had 500+ friends that I didn't care about at all. Anyone I cared about was on my email contact list and I talked to them regularly. These were the people I still sent text messages to and wanted to see if I was in town. I posted on facebook that I was deleting my account and that anyone who wanted to stay in touch should get my info from my profile while they still could. I got one comment on the post from someone I don't even really know and their comment was retarded. That really drove the last nail in the coffin of facebook for me.

It's been 6+ months since I deleted my account. It's pretty awesome.
