First, let me say, I'm not condoning piracy. I just thought the results of this study were interesting.

NBC Universal recently funded a P2P study, to see what the current popular trends of content are (or something; tbh I didn't read the actual report so idk if that was their whole reason...I'm guessing not though). Here's the full text of the report if anyone's interested (PDF (http://documents.envisional.com/docs/Envisional-Internet_Usage-Jan2011.pdf)).

The end result was this lovely set of data. They found the following popularity trends in the P2P data that they studied:

0.5% : Unidentified
0.2% : Books of Comics
2.9% : Music
4.2% : Software
6.7% : PC or console games
14.5% : TV
35.2% : Film
35.8% : ...yup, you guessed it... Porn.

I guess Avenue Q was right. :P

As a side not, I for one am proud to say I contributed to that 0.5% that they don't know wtf it was. :D NOTE: This was a study of P2P content in general, not just infringing content. Hurray for rainbow tables torrents. :P

Some times I wonder if these are put out there by the folks that are against P2P or the ones that are promoting it! Its odd how all these reports actually provide all the information on where to go for those that probably would have never even known about it. LOL

Hahaha, yeah. Though recently the RIAA/etc took down a bunch of torrent sites, but they won't say which ones...maybe they're learning...maybe they're blowing smoke...who knows? :P

You read about what happened to the firm doing it in the UK?

It's amazing what a few turds and rotten fish through a mailbox will do to a litigious moron!
