I need quick answers guys. the only thicknesses i coudl find of particle board are 1/4 and 1/2 im guna run 1/2...cuz theres no frame work and i can use the depth for the ports...will using 1/2 in. particle board make this thing weight as much as a refridgerator...lol

How big of a box are we talking? Most of the time 1/2" would be the best choice , exspecialy if it's going to get much abuse!

it should be easy to find out the weight. Just call the supplier. Ask how much a sheet weighs. Divide that by 32 (assuming a 4'x8' sheet) and you'll have how much it weighs per square foot.

well the box im making will be about 20W x 14H x 14D

I have built lots of speaker enclosures in the past, and I think you would be real disappointed in the sound if you used the 1/4. You made the right call, 1/4 just doesn't project bass with the same strength. As for the weight, I think it varies a little depending on the type/manufacturer.

0oh hell yea if i was adding a sub i would def go with 1/2 1/4 would fall apart....but this bux wont have a sub...just a comp =]
