This was in the school's recycling pile, and my IT teacher lets me freely raid it. .

Synopsis:

PSU is dead; will not turn on even with a green-black short.
MoBo is dead; only will speaker-click, twice a second.

Challenge accepted, Dell.:devious:

Parts to get:
PicoPSU
ITX MoBo
Better HDD
Possibly Slot-load ODD

Well, even with some picky Googling, I was not able to find much.
Only question is, does anyone know where I can find a 2*4 header?

Thanks, all.

I can get 1*2 from Bill, no problem.
Just wasn't sure best for 2*4.

I needed 1*2 for power button, power LED, and HDD LED.
The 2*4 was for USB and audio.
Now, do they sell hole plugs?

Yup.

That works.

I meant a plastic pin that fills the hole.

So, what's the overall plan? Just bring her back to life, or a more specific purpose?

For some odd-ball reason, I've always liked those cases. Always thought it would make a good HTPC case.

I have a few of that model that I got out of the trash.

Strange...that seems to be where they all live...

But if it wasn't for dumpsters, we modders would lose a major supply line!

I'm convinced that most of the failures are from bad power supplies. That's what almost all of the HP computers I got from school had wrong with them.

Bring it back to life, give to brother (hopefully by xmas 2011) as an in-bedroom PC.

And to "wow" people at LAN parties.

haXBOX is going to be my personal HTPC, and VCR-Puter is going to be family HTPC.

Now, to get ITX MoBos from somewhere..............

The power of picture services brings you this next update.

And the power of my Konica Minolta brings you high-quality pictures.

Now, to follow (and digitally edit) the paths....
(anyone have any idea what ESUP is? I had no idea they were actually there until now.

The tricky part is, the main board is a 4-layer PCB.

Until next time.
