No need to nuke and pave unless you like that sort of thing.

More info needed; namely your AV software.

Not enough. Get avast or avg and run it. At the very least, run Malwarebytes then spybot search and destroy. Should solve your problems.

I've yet to come across anything that MSE, followed by Malwarebytes, followed by Advanced Systemcare can't deal with - but I'm sure there'll be a first time (probably sooner rather than later)

Sounds like they are just regular popups from the pages you are opening. I think by default FF opens new windows in a tab, so if you click on a link that has an 'on load open new window' command in it (popup) it will open it in a new tab. It may not be a virus or malware at all.

when i try to search something up on google and then i click i link it loads a different search engine and everytime it's a different search engine. when i am watching a youtube video and i have anything in the search bar it will open up a new tab with a search engine with what's in the search bar. and it does it at a random basis when am watching youtube.

check your msconfig, see what is running on startup. Try disabling anything suspicious and restarting, see if that fixes your issue. I would also try a different AV software, like avast or avg (make sure you disable MSE before installing) and trying ad-aware or a different malware software. Also, you can check your add/remove programs and see what is in there, I have found spyware just by the installer/uninstaller. lol

On a hunch....

With AV 2010 I accidentally got on one of my school's computers, it created, and I quote, "[cmz vmkd] Virtual Bus" in the system devices in the device manager.. Since Windows saw "bus", it thought it was necessary for bootup.

It probably isn't that extreme, but we want to rule out all possibilities.
So, look through all tabs, and see if anything out of the ordinary was there.

i didn't find anything in the device manger so idk what's happening

Another thing with AV2010.....

It created a file in system32.
How did I root it out?
Sorted by creation date, and it was not a MSCorp file.

If a format and re-install didn't do it I got nothing. That pretty much means it's something on your install disc. Unless it you didn't format first?

pcclan
03-23-2011, 08:48 PM
so should i do a clean install with format ?

pcclan
03-23-2011, 09:58 PM
