Just saw this over on HaD, AWESOME project! Basically the group has drives filled with music, movies, tv shows, etc. that get sent to our troops for their viewing pleasure!

That is really cool, both on the service side and on the hardware side. ...I can't help but wonder what the various copyright holders' take on it is though...

well seeing that it's not being resold, and I'm sure the content came from legal means, I wouldn't think it'd be an issue. And if it were, I'm sure it would have come up by now, but who knows

that's pretty cool.

i just read through the faqs section and they explain what their lawyers have told them about the legality of the project. basically, they "come close to the line" but don't actually cross it. it looks like they did their research.

Good to know; I didn't actually think to look in the FAQ.

Frankly, this wouldn't need to occur if the companies fixed their business model instead of refusing to change...

I'd be game if anyone wanted to do a TBCS Terabyte project.

I HIGHLY do not recommend doing that. I also would recommend that this thread be closed, to prevent any attempts to organise it on this forum.

As crenn alludes, any TBCS 'traveling terabyte' project would (even if not originally intended) end up being something very different than the one in the OP. Something that would definitely be on the other side of that legal line. I agree that such a project should not be pursued (at least not on the boards...what people do in private is their own business), but I do not think closing the thread is necessary to prevent that, in case someone actually wants to discuss the project in the OP.
