Just in case anyone is in a position for it to matter...

Microcenter has for a while had a deal where if you buy a few certain AMD CPUs, they give you ~$50 off certain MBBs. They have a nice little webpage showing you which MBBs apply for which CPUs, etc, etc. Well, I just ordered a CPU and MBB from Microcenter, and while the MBB was not on the list, I still got $50 off! :D

Yay Microcenter!

It sould only be $40. Qualifying CPU's are Phenom X2 555, Phenom X2 560, X4 840, X4 965, X6 1055T, and the X6 1090T. The deal has been going on since at least Oct of last year. I bought the 1090T and got $40 instantly off my MSI 870A-G54. The board retails for $117 and was on sale for $105. The deal made it ring up for $65 at the register and there was an additional $20 mail-in rebate

Yeah, it was $40, I mis-read the online thing. They actually ended up not having the MBB I ordered in stock, but when I got there I check the clearance rack and found an Asus Crossfire Iv Formula that was already marked down to $160, so I got it for $120. :D

None on all of those. BTW, the Crosshair boards are garbage. Go back and buy the warranty

Alrighty then, i have a friend headed there tomorrow to grab an i7 870... I was just hoping that there might be a good deal on intel too. Does MC carry cpu blocks? The only one i can find on the website is for 1366 chips.

Really? What commonly fails?

Say, could I get some linkage to that Microcenter page? I'm looking at possibilities for BBQ-Q, and an X4 965 would be pretty sweet.

It's the Asus name period. It seems like every Asus baord, be it Intel or AMD, has been having problems. I've heard about bad SATA and USB ports. Buggy PCI-E slots and every other damn thing you can think of. You have no idea how many people every day come in and tell me that their Asus motherboard has died. The Republic of Gamer boards are the worst. Every single one that goes out comes back. We've even been calling them boomerangs. When someone comes in who really wants one I always insist on the warranty.

$30 can really save your butt

Wow, they've let themselves slip that bad? It used to be that Asus were some of the most reliable boards... Does Micro Center let you buy the warranty after buying the product?

You have 14 days

Nice! Would I have to do that in the store or is that something I can do online or over the phone? I assume that warranty would mean that any repairs/etc I can just take it to them instead of sending it to Asus? Oh, and do they still let you buy the warranty on clearance stuff? Specifically open box?

YOu have to go into the store and visit customer service. You warranty would cost $20 for two years.

Aww, I was afraid of that. :( Ah well, I guess I'll head over some time next week.
