Sub Woofer Mod

Hi guys, im new to the forum and id like to ask about a mod i have in mind. I want to make a device that reacts to certain sounds and lights o on and off, so i put the device in the Sub Woofer and when it plays, lets say some bass then a yellow light goes on or it plays treble and a blue light goes on.. some thing like that.. can u guys throw me some ideas plz.. :? :? :? :? :? :?

Ah, a good old fashioned sound to light. I remember building a three channel one way back in the 70s. I saw the design in an electronics hobby magazine.
